The Abilene Paradox

This is a very attractive class activity. Each of the students receives a small card with a belief written on it and it is told (in the card) how he should behave, then they are given a problem and they should make a decision as a group, but always keeping the role one has received.
Then talk about what happened and share cards contents and thoughts about what each person in such situation could do to overcome such crisis situations

MY CURRENTLY FAVORITE GAME: SETTLERS OF CATAN
All it took to finally have it was:

19 HEXAGONS (almost hexagons, but they're workable) corresponding to five types of resourceful areas and easy to combine in a variety of maps.

120 CARDS with resources in the local "bANK" for us all

1 THIEF in the middle of the desert threatening to mess with our plans

2 DICE made of chalk

60 ROADS made with the hard work and bloody finger sacrifice of my beloved good for everything man.

A FAIR AMOUNT OF PATIENCE and dedication to collect 40 plastic bottles of four different colors and sizes (but since most of them were blue - cuz we are addicted to water) I had to use paint spray and glue.

A BOX of colorful markers and pencils

AND A WHOLE WEEKEND

18 NUMBERS on tiny carton circles to place over each resource area

2 big paper folders made of thick carton were sacrificed for the sake of this board-game.

The winner is generally the person who manages to gather 10 points by colonizing the island of CATAN, after a lot of bargain with the competitors and interesting turns of fate.

Now I'm planning to extend it... Perhaps invent some new types of resources that could lead to the development of higher technology. Maybe I will add some players and also some funnier victory point places to build in times of progress in the cities. I'm also thinking boats, battle ships and submarines, small islands peppering the ocean, pirates, petrol, fish and treasures in the deep. And many more...

Towards the end of winter, a lot of snowmen start weeping as they feel they're at their white's end!

Therapists and TheRapists are easy to confuse as they frequently behave similarly: they all try to undress you of your social culturally prescribed rituals and they try to get inside of you. You can tell the difference between a Therapist and TheRapist by three important clues:

1) A Therapist never attempts anything at you without your informed consent. He will ask if he may first. TheRapist, however, gets emotionally aroused and barges in with deep aiming questions before you even notice what's going on!

2) A Therapist will treat you like an equally worthy person. But to TheRapist you're just food for his thoughts! And he's either gonna eat you all or fantasize about doing so.

3) A Therapist's help implies collaboration and is based on the assumption that you have abilities. TheRapist will only acknowledge your problems (to trick you into believing he understands you perfectly well) and he'll assume that his positive ideas must be pushed deep down inside of you as an ultimate way to impregnate you with happiness.

So, beware and take care of yourself even while somebody else is helping you.
